Meet the Entrepreneurs

Wednesday 11 March 2009 (3-6pm)
Room A1, Psychology Building, University Park

Speakers:
  • Roger Turner, Former director of Geneservice Limited
  • Dr George Rice, Director, Promethean Particles
  • Dr Bruce Venning, Commercialisation Manager – University of Nottingham
In the current economic climate postgraduate researchers, like many in the UK, are struggling to find their first or next job. At Nottingham we would like you to consider one possible alternative; the possibility of creating your own enterprise. This may be through starting a business or a social enterprise or by making an idea happen at work.

Our ‘Meet the Entrepreneurs’ event seeks to provide the inspiration and opportunity to turn your ideas into reality.

The Graduate School is offering you the opportunity to meet individuals who have transformed their research into a sustainable business. Some of the entrepreneurs are current or former members of the research community at Nottingham, others have worked closely with Nottingham researchers.

This event will explore the challenges involved in commercialising technology-based research and provide valuable insight into the process by which an idea is developed from conception to saleable product. You will have an opportunity to question the entrepreneurs on the panel and to speak directly with them over tea/coffee.

This event is open to all postgraduate research students and research staff. Postgraduate taught students who would like to develop an existing idea are also welcome.

There is no fee for this event.
